Shaun had the pleasure of once again being invited to speak in front of several members of the Women’s Club of Lost Lake on January 20th, 2021. Frank and Liz Galligan opened their home to provide a socially distanced gathering following the CDC guidelines. The weather was perfect for Shaun to present on the importance of estate planning and elder law to the attending ladies, outside on Frank and Liz’s spacious patio. The guests had a terrific waterfront and landscaping view to take in while enjoying their gracious hosts’ refreshments, on a sunny south Florida winter afternoon!

The event was also co-hosted by realtor Kate Hudson, of Real Estate of Florida, and a fellow member of the Women’s Club of Lost Lake. Kate also understands the need to provide this useful information to seniors in her community. Kate has over 26 years of experience as a real estate expert in Hobe Sound, Stuart, Palm City, Jensen Beach, and the rest of the Treasure Coast.

Shaun touched on topics such as: Medicaid and disability planning; the importance of having the updated HIPAA release authorizations in one’s health care surrogate/living will; Florida residents having their prior out-of-state estate planning documents updated for Florida law; snow-birds and their need for certain Florida documents such as a Florida power of attorney for buying/selling FL real estate; trusts versus wills; and traditional life estate deeds vs. Florida’s enhanced life estate deeds (“lady bird deeds”); etc.

Shaun emphasized that every family has different issues and concerns, and the importance of attorneys tailoring their representation for each individual client. Shaun fielded lots of good questions from the guests, which led to discussions of interest to all in attendance. A very pleasant and informational lunch gathering.
